Friendship endures between Georgia and Russia

Before presenting awards to famous Georgians at the Kremlin, president Dmitry Medvedev announced that the friendship between Russia and Georgia would never be destroyed.
Despite difficult diplomatic ties between the Kremlin and Mikheil Saakashvili’s government in Tbilisi, Medvedev said: “That friendship cannot be tarnished by politicians because it has been tested over the centuries and comes from the heart of the Russian and Georgian people”.
He went on to give awards to artist Zurab Tsereteli and singer Tamara Gverdtsiteli at a state award ceremony in Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.
