SUZHOU CITY, China, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Time has run out for whoever was holding a Chinese lottery ticket worth $1.5 million, making it the largest unclaimed sum ever in that country, officials say.
The ticket holder didn't show up in East China's Suzhou city in Jiangsu province by the deadline so the money goes back into the welfare lottery fund that provides for public welfare projects, China Daily reported.
After the incident, regional newspapers printed lottery information numerous times to remind people to check their tickets, China Daily said Tuesday. UPI
