Man, 96, wants wife for vote

CANKIRI, Turkey, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- A 96-year-old man in the Turkish town of Cankiri surprised a politician soliciting his vote for constitutional reform by demanding a wife in return.

Omar Sosyal told Suat Kiniklioglu, a member of parliament representing the ruling Justice and Development Party, that was his price for voting yes in the Sept. 12 referendum, the Dogan News Agency reported. Kiniklioglu was campaigning in Central Anatolia in support of the constitutional changes.

"I cannot live all by myself anymore," Sosyal said.

Sosyal said he has no one to help him find a wife. He made the same request last year of Agriculture Secretary Mehdi Eker. UPI
