Bombings kill 4 U.S. troops in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Two roadside bombings in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday killed four U.S. service members, military officials said.

Military officials said three troops died in one attack and one died in the other, The New York Times reported.

The four deaths follow roadside bombings in southern Afghanistan Monday in which seven U.S. troops and a coalition soldier were killed, the Times said.

Since Saturday, 19 coalition service members, including 18 Americans, have been killed in Afghanistan, military officials said. UPI
