George Michael pleads guilty in pot case

LONDON, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- U.K. pop star George Michael has lost his driver's license for six months after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possessing cannabis.

The singer may face additional penalties, including jail time, when he is officially sentenced Sept. 14, the BBC said Tuesday.

The charges stem from Michael's July 4 arrest in London after he crashed his Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps photo shop.

Michael has been cited several times for possession of drugs, and he was arrested in 2007 for driving under the influence of drugs. He pleaded guilty in that case, lost his license and was ordered to perform community service. UPI
