TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- An Iranian woman says she has been freed on bail from two weeks of solitary confinement in Tehran's infamous Evin prison.
Fereshteh Halimi was detained on charges of hiding the whereabouts of her husband, prominent human rights attorney Mohammad Mostafaei, CNN reported Sunday.
Mostafaei fled Iran to Turkey after defending Shakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year old mother of two who was sentenced to death by stoning after being convicted of adultery.
Mostafaei said he fled Iran because he feared retribution for his defense of Ashtiani. Halimi was then pressured to tell Iranian authorities where her husband was; when she refused, she was jailed, the report said.
Halimi said her husband has been granted asylum in Norway. UPI
