SYDNEY, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- A Muslim former employee is suing Australia's telecommunications company, saying a supervisor called him a "terrorist".
Ali Iskafi of Sydney alleges an ''extremely intoxicated'' manager at Telstra uttered the slur to him and another Muslim during a sales conference in Melbourne in July 2009, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. He was laid off three weeks later.
The former business sales consultant is suing Telstra for undisclosed damages, asserting the company is liable for the manager's behavior. He is expected to claim a link between the incident and his termination.
Outside court, Iskafi said the manager was involved in Telstra's cutbacks and was present when he was informed of his termination. The manager and the other Muslim employee were also let go. UPI
