Violence erupts in Karachi after killings

KARACHI, Pakistan, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Police said at least 13 people died in Karachi, Pakistan, after violence broke out following the killing of two members of the Awaimi National Party.

Obaidullah Yousafzai and Saleem Akhtar were gunned down Thursday by unknown assailants at the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport, the Pakistan Tribune reported. Yousafzai, who worked for Pakistan International Airline and was described by an ANP spokesman as the party's head of security, was sitting in a car with Akhtar when they were killed, police said.

Yousafzai had recently moved to the area because it was believed to be relatively safe, the newspaper Dawn reported.

Members of the ANP gathered at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, where the bodies were taken from the airport. UPI
