BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Colorado officials say they have no idea exactly how many homes have been destroyed by the stubborn wildfire burning northwest of Boulder.
A preliminary survey of the area indicates at least 92 structures have been consumed by the flames, everything from mansions to outhouses, fire officials say.
Boulder County Sheriff's Cmdr. Rick Brough told the Denver Post it will be a few more days before some 3,500 evacuees will be able to return home.
Downed wires and burned trees are just some of the hazards residents face, Brough said.
The fire doubled in size Tuesday to more than 7,100 acres after starting Monday morning.
