Abu Dhabi residents should apply to have their own car park place in their buildings before October 19, Alkhaleej daily reported on Wednesday.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, which is locked in a major car park project for the fast-growing capital, all residents in buildings which include car parking spaces must apply before that deadline or face fines.
“Applicants should submit all necessary documents before that date…this will save the tenants and landlords any legal problems and resulting fines.”
The paper, citing a Department statement, said park spaces would be distributed proportionately to apartments, depending on their size.
It said each floor would get a minimum seven car park spaces, adding that any surplus would be given to bigger flats.
“The statement also warned landlords against levying parking fees from tenants once the Department takes over parking facilities inside buildings…violators will be subject to heavy fines,” the paper said.
