Man accused of crime in city while he was in jail

In a dramatic development of a case being heard by the Dubai Criminal Court regarding CID impersonation and forcible theft, one of the victims denied seeing or knowing an accused standing in the courts dock.
JMJ, a taxi driver told the jury: “The person in the dock is not the one who forcibly entered our house impersonating a CID staff, assaulted us and stole our money. I have never seen this man before”.
Following the testimony of the victim, MDZ, 26, an Arab investor, told the court that he is innocent and has nothing to do with the case.
“Your honour... I have been in jail for the past year without any prima facie or evidence that I have committed a crime against anyone…the victim has just assured that I am not one of the people who have assaulted him… I am innocent of the accusations been filed against me…I am wronged your honour”.
Arguing his innocence, MDZ told the court that the signatures that were on some documents of the case have been proved not his. “There is no evidence of my involvement in the case”.
The Dubai Prosecution has accused MDZ and JAN, 32, employee (who failed to attend the hearing) of forcible theft by entering the house of the victims after knocking and kicking the door, assaulting the victims and asking them to hand over their money after claiming to be CID staff and presenting a military card.
