Matthew drenches southern Mexico; Lisa becomes a tropical depression

(CNN) -- Tropical Depression Matthew began dumping rain over southern Mexico Sunday morning as forecasters project it to come to a virtual standstill later in the day.
As of 5 a.m. ET, Matthew was about 85 miles (135 kilometers) southeast of Villahermosa, Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida.
The Mexican states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Veracruz have already experienced heavy rain.
Matthew could leave a total of 6 to 10 inches of rain over parts of Guatemala and extreme southern Mexico and up to 15 inches in isolated areas, the weather agency said. Parts of Guatemala have already received more than 6 inches of rain.
