Russia's Economic Development Ministry will maintain its GDP growth forecast at four percent this year but does not rule out a fall to 3.5-3.7 percent due to the effects of the drought, government documents revealed on Thursday.
The Russian government will discuss a forecast of the country's social and economic development in 2011 and the planned period of 2012-2013 prepared by the Economic Development Ministry at its session on Thursday.
"The general recovery trend is expected to resume in coming months to be propped up by consumer demand growth, inventory recovery and investment activity intensification by the end of this year. These factors allow us to estimate annual GDP growth at four percent," the ministry documents said.
