Woman's son seeks proof in stoning case

TEHRAN, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The son of the Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning says he wants proof that his mother was an adulteress, now that her case has been put on hold.

Sajjad Ghaderzadeh said the family of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani hasn't received an official document on the stay of his mother's execution, so the family doesn't accept the claims of her guilt, CNN reported Thursday.

"We have so far not received an official and legal document on stopping the stoning sentence and execution, we therefore do not accept these claims," Ghaderzadeh said in a statement Wednesday. "They must issue us legal documents in this regard".

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told Iranian-backed Press TV Wednesday the case was being reviewed, saying her sentencing for "complicity in murder is in process".
