Minister caught in prostitution sting

KISSIMMEE, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A Florida minister and volunteer police chaplain was charged with attempting to purchase sex after being caught up in a pre-Halloween crackdown, police said.

Samuel Conley, 54, eight other men and a woman were rounded up Thursday in a prostitution sting in Kissimmee, WFTV reported. The Kissimmee Police Department conducted a sting operation both online and on the street and said Conley responded to an Internet ad.

Conley is the pastor of Central Church of Christ in Haines City, about 20 miles from Kissimmee in central Florida. He is one of almost 400 volunteer chaplains with the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

WDBO Radio said the prostitution sting was part of an effort to make the streets safe for trick-or-treaters. Police also checked the homes of registered sex offenders to make sure they have not put out pumpkins or done anything else that might attract children.
