Three charged in Kansas City kidnapping

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- A drug deal gone wrong led to the alleged kidnapping of a Kansas City, Mo., woman and her daughter and a $50,000 reason demand, authorities said.

The victims were not hurt in the Tuesday night incident and no ransom was paid, The Kansas City Star reported.

Michael D. Gipson, 32, of Grandview, Mo., Eugene I. Webb, 23, and Brandon T. Carter, 28, both of Kansas City, have been charged with two counts of kidnapping and three counts of armed criminal action, the newspaper said.

Gipson and a rival had an "ongoing feud due to a bad narcotics transaction," court records allege, and Gipson wanted to "get back at him".

Gipson and the two others allegedly kidnapped the rival's 28-year-old wife and 4-year-old daughter and demanded money for their safe return, officials said.
