Businessman allegedly taped guests

SACRAMENTO, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- A prominent businessman in Sacramento has been charged with secretly videotaping his guests and sexual partners.

Michael P. Lyon, former head of a family-owned real estate firm, was arrested Wednesday after a search of his house, The Sacramento Bee reported. Prosecutors say Lyon taped three sexual encounters, and the newspaper said a source described his three partners as prostitutes.

Two people, a former employee and a friend, say Lyon secretly taped them in the bathroom of his house when they were teenagers. Both have filed lawsuits.

William Portanova, a prosecutor turned criminal defense lawyer, who is representing Lyon, suggested the three women, paid by Lyon for sex, are now being paid to testify against him.

"I can tell you right now, Mike Lyon is not in any mood to lay down and take this," Portanova said. "He's ready now for the fight".

Lyon posted $60,000 bail and was released. He thanked waiting reporters for their presence outside the jail and drove away with Portanova.

Kimarie Lyon, his ex-wife, provided information to investigators during their divorce, the report said. Michael Lyon has resigned from Lyon Real Estate.
