The National Library of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) has published a photo encyclopedia on prayer beads in Arabic and English.
The book, called “The Life in a Misbah” has been produced in collaboration with Bahraini research and publishing house Al Waraqoon. It aims to shed light on one of the main pillars of Arabic heritage, the Misbah or prayer beads. From the beads to the minarets at the end, from the brilliant colors to the distinctively traditional arts of spinning and making, the book examines how Misbah are both a religious symbol and a social and cultural marker.
The move is part of a strategy to document the region's heritage.
