Missing Canadian found dead in Mexico

ACAPULCO, Mexico, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The burned body of a missing Canadian man was found in the trunk of his rental car in Mexico, Canadian officials said Sunday.

A Canadian Foreign Affairs Department official said police in Mexico were investigating a crime in the death of Daniel Dion, 51, but details weren't released, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Dion, who was from Sherbrooke, Quebec, but was living in Carleton Place near Ottawa, Ontario, had been in Mexico to promote his line of designer purses, the CBC said. His body was found north of Acapulco.

Dion's family learned of his fate Saturday night.

The CBC cited local media reports that said Dion was last seen leaving a restaurant in Acapulco about 2 a.m. on Oct. 23, and getting into a car accompanied by three men. His wife had last talked to him by phone the day before.
