CLEVELAND, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden teamed up Sunday to boost Democratic candidates in Ohio ahead of Tuesday's elections.
Addressing a "Moving America Forward" rally at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Biden stressed the need to get the vote out like Democrats did in 2008 to re-elect Gov. Ted Strickland in his race against John Kasich and put Lee Fisher over the top in his race against Rob Portman for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by George Voinovich.
"Go out there to your neighbors, send e-mails, make phone calls, knock on doors, make sure you're there to give folks a ride to the polls on Tuesday ...," Biden said, adding Kasich and Portman "don't think we should be giving tax credits for renewable energy so that you can make the windmills and solar panels and lithium ion batteries right here in Ohio, and hire thousands and thousands of Ohioans.
They don't think we should provide the tax breaks to middle-class families to help send their kids to this great university. And as a matter of fact, they don't even want to make the middle-class tax cuts permanent -- unless -- unless we provide $700 billion in tax cuts to their wealthy friends, increasing the burdens of the debt $700 billion".
Obama hammered away at his common themes of supporting the middle class, rebuilding the country's infrastructure, helping small businesses and making the United States No. 1 in education.
