Suspect held in R.I. Christmas slaying

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Police said the slaying of a Rhode Island woman found dead on Christmas morning may be a case of domestic violence.

Raymond Grundy was brought in for questioning Saturday night after the body of a woman whom he had once had a relationship with was found on the floor of her East Providence home by her mother.

The woman's 9-month-old twin daughters were found crying on the floor, but were unharmed.

Police Chief Joseph Tavares told reporters that Grundy, a resident of Warwick, had a history of domestic violence with the victim and was being held on a charge of violating a restraining order.

The Providence (R.I.) Journal said Sunday the crime scene drew a crowd of stunned neighbors as crime scene technicians and detectives investigated late into Saturday night.

The name of the woman was not immediately released. The two girls were sent to their grandmother's home. UPI
