MILWAUKEE, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A worker renovating an apartment in Milwaukee was killed by a refrigerator dropped from the fourth floor, police said.
The workers who threw the refrigerator Tuesday morning said they yelled out a warning but heard no response, so they thought the ground was clear, police spokeswoman Anne Schwartz told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The 33-year-old victim died at the scene. His name has not been released. No charges have been filed.
"It appears right now just to be a tragic accident," Schwartz said.
Milwaukee police completed their investigation, and it is being reviewed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The victim worked for Wiegand Enterprises, which manages the building.
The victim "has been a dedicated and valued member of the Wiegand Enterprises team for many years," president Rick Wiegand said. "As a family man with a warm heart and zest for life, we are all heartbroken with his loss". UPI
