QUEBEC CITY, March 10 (UPI) -- A town in southeastern Quebec was in shock Thursday as police tried to learn why a minivan with six people inside swerved into the path of a transport truck.
Provincial police were interviewing people in the town of Saint-Victor, about 70 miles south of Quebec City, a day after the head-on collision, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said.
The crash killed the minivan's 34-year-old male driver, a 27 year-old woman, an 8-year-old boy and a month-old male toddler, police said.
Another toddler was in critical condition Thursday, along with a 4-year-old with serious injuries, the report said.
The transport truck driver received minor injuries, police said.
A woman working in a hair salon near the crash scene told the CBC it was a mystery as to why the minivan veered.
"There were no brakes, no brakes. All I heard was a boom," Lucie Rodrigue said.
Police said visibility and road conditions were good when the collision happened. UPI
