Trans-Siberian funeral goes online

Russia is about to hold its first-ever online funeral service, in memory of a Polish explorer who died earlier this month while travelling on the Trans-Siberian railway.
Monday’s ceremony in Novosibirsk is going hi-tech because many friends and relatives of Stanislaw Kolodeicik cannot make it from Poland and the US for the service, RIA Novosti reported.
It will be shown via web-cams, and invited well-wishers will be able to access footage on a password-protected link.
Kolodeicik, who was 65, was an experienced explorer. The cause of his death has not been announced.
